We've had loads of comments over the years on what a great space our reception would be for a gig.
Well, we decided to give it a go and host our first ever live lounge. We got a couple of great local artists along for a really special night.
What made it even better was knowing that we weren't going to have to worry about forgotten, lost or broken equipment, as we have every cable, gadget, pedal and string we could possibly need at our fingertips.
After a bit of rearranging, we set up a space for our bands. How do you think it looks?
Subverse
The wonderful Subverse, an acoustic duo from north London, opened the gig, bringing us an eclectic mix of styles, from smooth, to heartbreaking, to great dance tracks. It was a perfect start to the evening.
Follow them on instagram and check them out on spotify, they are well worth a listen.
The False Dots
The False Dots performed next, comprising of Mill Hill Music Complex's very own Fil Ross and Roger Tichborne, as well as Tom on trumpet and Graham (Rambo) on drums.
After an unforgettable introduction by local legend Amo, the band played hits such as "Sci-Fi Girls" "The Burnt Oak Boogie" and "We All Love A Party".
It was a particularly special gig as they were joined by Connie Abbe, who played with the Dots over a decade ago. Despite not playing together for so long, we thought they sounded better than ever.
Going Forward
From the atmosphere to the sound quality, our live lounge experiment went better than we could have hoped.
As a result, we're planning to host more events like this.
